Any other questions about the software?

Insufficient Space - but 2x the needed space is available

I used copy+ about 2 1/2 years ago to expand my Thompson HD box up to the existing 1TB. Worked like a dream :)

However I've been having glitches on HD playback for the last few days (SD playback seems ok...HD glitches every few seconds)
I've tried several planner rebuilds, unplugged for an hour or 2, more planner rebuilds, made sure there was no failed recordings.... Still glitches.
I rebuilt the power supply a couple of years ago with the SatCure kit and on inspection the capacitors all look as good as new.

So I thought I might try backing up the hard drive and then restoring to try and see if that fixed anything, and if not then I've got a backup before buying a new drive.

So I have been trying to backup to a XTV image file - saving to the PC.
Space on the PC is 2TB, the source file size is 851GB.
The Sky drive is connected to the PC by an external caddy. The sky drive is detected fine, all the recordings are shown.
I get "Insufficient disk space for image file. Omit some recordings or select a different drive" and the "Start Copy" button is greyed out.
I've also tried backing up to an XTV file on an external USB drive.
Neither the internal HD nor the external USB drive work - both have 2TB free. I get the same "Insufficient disk space ..." message.
Experimenting, I can select about 78GB of recordings, and it would happily copy that amount, but any more and I get the warning and greyed out copy button.

I've tried running as a user and as administrator.
The PC is a win7 64 system.

Any clues? I am right that I can backup to file - yes?

Update:

I've just swapped the PSU for one in my Thompson Sky+ (same PSU model, also rebuilt with new capacitors a while ago) and it's glitching in just the same way - every few seconds the picture freezes and sound drops out, then the picture pixilates over any movement and carries on - and does it all over again after a few seconds of normal play.

Sorry for the delay in replying.
Copy+ is no longer compatible with HD. Please use the alternate produce ExPVR.

Oh, I must have missed that somewhere :oops:

OK, I'll try ExPVR. I had heard of it, but as Copy+ worked so well before, I thought I'd stick with what I knew!

Thanks for getting back to me.

...actually, I'm still confused.

ExPVR says that it can perform the following types of copies:

OpenTV -> Darwin
Darwin -> Darwin

But cannot do:

OpenTV -> OpenTV
Darwin -> OpenTV

So my Thompson HD being an OpenTV device cannot back up and restore to the same device?

From the ExPVR site:

"ExPVR has support for copying from these boxes (either to a Darwin Sky+ HD box or your computer). Copies to legacy OpenTV devices are not supported."

Seems to imply this. :(

Maybe a question for the ExPVR forum, but it starts to look like I'm out of luck either way if neither program supports copying back to the OpenTV devices.
:shock:
