Thomson 1TB copyplus-ed disk to my 2TB 895?

Postby alpine101 » Wed Oct 27, 2010 9:43 pm

I still have on a shelf the 1TB disk that was in my Thomson HD box and contains material saved up to 27th May, when I replaced this box with the new 895, in which I installed a 2TB disk. The Thomson 1TB disk was of course already formatted with the older beta copy+, and itself contains material from the original Thomson disk as well as later stuff.

As I read it, the new Oct27th version of Copy+ should be able safely to reformat the 2TB disk and then copy the 1TB to it preserving all my pre-May 27th recordings. I will clearly lose stuff recorded since 27th May, but after that things should be OK.

Is this an accurate summary of the new version's capability please?

As the disk from the 27th May won't contain any Darwin recordings, that would be correct.

Excellent, now to try to pluck up courage to actually do it and convince family members they'll only lose a couple of the currently scheduled recordings!.
Thanks for your continued efforts :D

Just started the copy. I'm having to use XP because I get the dreaded 'Source disk cannot be locked' error in Win 7. Tried diagnostics mode, same problem. Oddly, I think I used Win 7 to copy the same disk to the 2TB one with the old Beta with no probs. It reckons it will take 3.5Hours...

EDIT: Which it did. All now working fine after a few minutes where the box became very sluggish while rebuilding its databases.
