Unable to see 1.5 TB drive as destination drive

Any other questions about the software?

Unable to see 1.5 TB drive as destination drive

Postby TroyTempest » Sat Aug 28, 2010 11:09 am

Hi There.

I've just got the Amstrad DRX895 1.5 tb box and started to use copy+ to transfer my recodings from my Thomson HD box.
The problem I have is that the Amstrad doesn't show up as destination drive but I can see it as a source drive. The Amstrad is "virgin" ie, no recordings have been made to it.
I've swapped cables around connecting to the PC but result is the same.

Any clues?

Using Vista 64bit

Thanks, Neil

Follow the advice in by selecting "Help! My destination drive is nor recognised" in the destination drop down.
You destination disk has been used in a Sky box before (even though nothing was recorded) and is therefore formatted. Delete the partition off the destination disk and it will be recognised.

Ah, of course!

Thanks for the quick reply :D

One more thing, I read (on here?) that you can recover data off a deleted volume. My bro-in-law has deleted the wrong partition of a drive (thomson 160) but hasn't touched it since ie deleted data or recorded any thing to it. Would it be possible to get the programmes off it if they still exist?

If you have done absolutely nothing with the disk you can use the MBR repair tool to recover the partition.

Couldn't get MBR Repair Tool to open drive, I get an "error opening drive \\.\PHYSICALDRIVE1"

Nevermind, long shot and thanks for your help (copying over to the Amstrad worked fine by the way :) )

Vista? Windows 7? Start an elevated/administrator command prompt.
Also your disk is disk 1 in disk management?
