Download WriteProt from the link given.
From the Windows command prompt:
writeprot /mview
And then:
writeprot /vol E: /rw
Repleace E: with the appropriate drive letter of your drive (as shown my the first command)

Surely if you start an elevated command prompt this tool should work under Win 7 64 bit?
I think the owner of this page just hasn't updated it to say it is compatible with Win 7 (Hence only XP and Server 2003 are listed).

VERY LARGE hard Disk

Postby heronme » Thu Jun 24, 2010 2:59 pm

is there a limit to the size and type of Hard disk I can put in my
PACE TDS850NB SKY+/HD/HDMI 300GB HDD DIGITAL RECEIVER PACE TDS850NB SKY+/HD/HDMI 300GB HDD DIGITAL RECEIVER

I have several SAMSUNG 1.5TB SATA HARD DRIVE-1500GB

but when I put them in the box it reboots whenever I access any services using the disk.

(1) I need to check if I remembered to make it cable select
(2) There was some message I will re-do and pass on tonight concerning the size when I copied the image to this big drive.

Anyone managed to get a 1.5Tb drive working in a pace receiver?

There is no such thing as CS/Master/Slave for SATA drives.

The maximum supported size for anything other than Amstrad HD boxes (as far as I am aware) is 1TB.

yes sata doesnt involve this cable select thing. Sorry.
however - can you use a 1.5Tb disk in any fashion such as partitioning down to 1Tb? if so how... I tried the function in copy + setting my disk as 500megs but same result.
also the warning message i referred to before is:
******************************
WARNING: Partition sizes over 507GB may not be fully supported by
your box!
For example the Full Dystem Reset function dows not work for drives
over this limit and your drive will be reformatted to a lower capacity.
To regain the missing space you will have to use this utility toclone up
from a supported disk size.

Are you sure you want to continue?
OK Cancel
******************************
which is why i thought a big drive could be set as something smaller.
Lastly if i bought an Amstrad could i se my 1.5Tb drives???
Cheers

Unfortunately the only way to possible use such a drive in a non-Amstrad box is to restrict the total capacity to 1TB or less using the "LBA Limit" function of the drive manufacturers tools. See their support website.
This is NOT the same as reducing the partition size. Setting the max LBA actually makes the drive look like it is a smaller drive, as opposed to partitioning where it still looks like it is full sized, but then only part of that space is actually used.
