Using Sky HDD in PC

Postby LondonChap » Mon Jul 04, 2011 9:07 pm

I've done this before - used the HDD which previously lived in a Sky box as an extra HDD in my PC.

I can't remember EXACTLY what I did last time, but this time it's gone a bit wrong.

I have a 500GB PATA WD HDD which was used in a Sky+ (not HD) and was pretty full.

Perhaps unwisely, when I connected it to my PC I deleted the Volume (as you do prior to using Copy+) and then created a new simple volume and was happily following a Wizard which was guiding me through a format procedure which would set the HDD up in an NTFS way (for use in an old XP PC).

Then CLANG !! An error message said that the HDD is "Write Protected". I can't find any way to access/change the "write protected" property of the HDD.

How do I proceed ?
