1tb & DRX890

Postby stevehaley » Sat Mar 26, 2011 1:23 pm

Hi
I dont actually need to transfer any recordings from my old box - can I simply install a 1tb into a new Amstrad DRX890 and do a full reset on it? Some posts here appear to suggest that is possible.
How do I tell if I have the full 1tb(750mb) available to me once I have done the reset? I presume that this will give me 3x the normal recording capacity.

thanks
Stephen

Make a reasonable number of recordings and observe the total % space used.
SD recordings average around 2gb per hour for reasonable bandwidth channels.
1 or 2 % total is NOT sufficient to tell one way or the other as the box always rounds up.
Usually 1tb would be formatted to 492gb if done incorrectly by the box, so around 1/3 of the available user space compared to a correctly prepared 1tb drive.
