Amstrad DRX 890

Can anyone tell me if the standard Seagate 500 GB drive in an Amstrad DRX890 is forced to SATA 1 mode?

I have replaced it with a Western Digital 1.5TB drive, which is working fine but occasionally will cause sluggish menu performance.

I have read that some of the Sky HD boxes seem to work better if the drive is forced to SATA 1 as opposed to SATA II mode. If anyone knows what the original drive would be set to I can try the same on the WD drive.

Sorry, no idea on this one - I don't own a HD box and never had cause to investigate.

I've just swapped out the Seagate Pipeline 500GB on my DRX890. There is no jumper on the block adjacent to the SATA interface connector (used to force SATA I aka 150MB/sec mode). Unless this can be set through a software command, the drive is SATA II aka 300MB/sec mode.

I've googled a little and have not uncovered a way of using a software command to set the SATA mode for the Seagate Pipeline drive. If anyone knows of a program which can be used to scan/read the drive setting information, let me know and I'll be happy to report back - the Pipeline is currently installed in my PC!
