I used XP without a caddy in a bit of a roundabout fashion. Connected original 300GB drive internal SATA and copied image to an external USB drive (after changing to NTFS). Swapped the original drive for the new drive - initialized under disk management, then restored image from the external USB drive.

Old and new recordings working fine and now have at least 5x more space. No new EPG issues. Still on original PSU - until that goes sometime this year.. Thanks.

Glad everything went okay.
Good luck with your new drive and PSU upgrade (at some point)!

Hi mark*s -- hope you're still here. Six months on, is the WD10EARS still working for you? Did you have to do anything special to make it work? I was sent a WD10EARS instead of the WD10EADS I ordered, and have read that its "Advanced Format" makes it unlikely to work properly; indeed, pcbbc said as much in a thread on DS. pcbbc is the expert here so I'm likely to just return the drive, but I'm still curious as to whether it all worked out for you.

Thanks,
Steve

I'm surpridsed by this.

Have you still got no problems ?

My attempt using this drive gave me audio stuttering and really slow browsing.
