Cannot read source drive Sky+ PVR3 (Thomson)

Postby futur1sm » Wed Aug 07, 2013 10:58 am

I am trying to recover some recorded shows from a Sky+ box that has experienced a power supply failure (flickering red light). When I have connected the disk to the computer it appears and is mounted though when loading in Copy+ I receive an error: "Not a valid XTV file system for UK - Sky+/SkyHD!"

Unfortunately, the box I can restore to is not the same as this one (Thomson DSR8210) - it is an Amstrad DRX280 so I believe the Endian format will need to be changed. The drive is browseable and does have files/folders within. I believe that the planner is corrupt in some way.

Attached is the log file Copy+ generated:

Any help is greatly appreciated as this drive has some recordings which have been kept since Circa 2007.

I've sent you an e-mail so you can send me your planner database file (JOPA).

Just to update this thread for anyone who may run into a similar issue:

Stuart kindly looked at my JOPA file and let me know that there was in fact no issue with them, the problem turned out to be with my XSETUP.DBF and XSETUP.DB3 file throwing Copy+ in the wrong direction. They appeared to have been modified on the day the box failed whereas JOPA had an earlier timestamp. These were renamed and Copy+ loaded the information from the JOPA file correctly allowing me to recover the data from the disk for the replacement Sky+ box.

Thanks once again for your swift help Stuart!
